Some people have had luck just worrying them off.  Sometimes the clutch and 
pulley will come off without a puller.  A jaw-type puller will not work.

There is a special tool for this.  Audi lists the number in the Bentley.  I 
got mine at hancockindustries.com along with a bunch of other ND and Audi 
A/C stuff very reasonably priced.
