Thanks Chris, that was the culprit. 'Twas a little difficult realigning
the boot so that both the left and right plastic ears/guides line up
properly before tightening those hex screws, and one of the top rubber
bits that holds the upper portion of the boot wore off, but it is now
very securely fastened except for that upper left corner which doesn't
work itself up anyway. I might be able to find a replacement for that odd
rubber piece that holds the upper portion of the boot in, but that would
be for posterity.
