What worried me more was the steel wool part.... I thought that had to be a

I like the RainX wax myself.  Works wonders.  Even with new wiper blades 
the wipers would skip across the windshield, drove me crazy!  With RainX 
the problem is gone.... but that white goo sure is a PITA to deal with!
