Tailgate Trim Panel

The '93 Quattro Avant uses Phillips head screws around the sides and bottom
edge of the tailgate.   There is also a left and right trim along the
tailgate glass window which pries off.  They are held on with metal clips.
As I recall these come off first.  Once you remove all screws the large
panel can then be pried off.  There are additional plastic fasteners which
are hidden behind the panel holding it on.  It should pry off with a little
effort.

This panel is heavy and is a "bear" to put back on.  It's difficult to line
up the plastic fasteners with their matching slots because you can't see
them.  I also had my wife help me hold it while I pounded the panel to seat
the hidden plastic fasteners.   I ended up breaking a couple of them the
first time I tried to put it back on.

I suspect the '95 Avant you have is not that much different than my '93
