I'm more and more starting to suspect that's the case.  I'm also thinking 
that I can never get to the "bomb" test.  After driving for a long time and 
then coming to an idle, say in stop-and-go ttaffic, the Autocheck gives its 
warning.  No sense in shutting off the engine and pumping the pedal then 
because I already know that there is not enough pressure.  If there wasn't 
enough pressure with the engine running, there certainly isn't enough with 
it shut off.

To respond to various other kind listers:  The Pentosin level is sufficient. 
  The rack doesn't leak.  The sensor is known good.
