Battery Charge light on startup

Hi,

Hope someone can assist with this. Car is a 1988 Audi 90 fwd and when
first started from cold the battery charge light is on. Any ideas why ?
Battery and alternator are both relatively new (4 months). Light does
go off if the engine is revved.
