KX pistons in an MC motor? questions re: c/r & interchangeability

Hi All,

Can I put the pistons from my '86 Coupe GT motor, into my '88 
5kcstq motor, without any machining or changing of too much stuff?

Are they the same bore, will they work with the connecting rods 
and crank, and will it increase my c/r from 7.8:1 to 8.5:1?

I saw that another lister somewhere is doing something similar, 
and it occurred to me that I also have an n/a motor I might be able 
to do the same with.

I've been wanting to dig up the Bentley's, or find some info online, 
to see if the specs match.  I haven't done that yet, and I am also 
curious to know what others think about this type of swap.  The 
goal would be to help off-the-line acceleration, as in before the 
boost threshold.

p.s.  I got the '88 5kcstq running again (stripped plug threads), with 
the Timesert kit.  I have an email drafted to post the results, but 
couldn't connect from that computer.  I'll post that one later.
