which model did you drive the 2.0 litre??? We have had these in the UK since
March, now the first ones to come through were a little noisy but the latest
ones seem to have changed somehow, less induction noise methinks.
I sell these babies at an Audi centre in southern UK, IMO it is big step
forward compared to the old A4, the car is totally different , much, much
sharper in the handling, better ride, more room and at speed not as noisy
as the old car, just more refined.
I drove both the old model (1.8T Sport) and the new car (2.0 multitronic)
when the car was launched in thr UK, round the alpine handling circuit @
Millbrook proving ground, the old car is a barge in comparison, the new car
outhandled the old one no problem even 3 up with my receptionist screaming
in the rear for me to slow down!!!!!
As for multitronic, it's a massive step forward in auto gearbox technology,
better than tiptronic, whilst giving the same performance/economy as a
manual for the first time, Audi have even patented parts in this gearbox.
The A4 B6 is 40% stiffer than the old car, has lighter alloy multi link
front suspension, and independent rear suspension, so all Audi have to do to
make a Quattro is to change the rear subframe to fot the rear diff. Take a
look underneath, the floor is pretty much flat to allow better aerodynamics
and reduce road noise.
Over here in the UK, the motoring press rate this car higher in most if not
all tests better than the Merc C class and BMW 3 series, wait till you try
the 130bhp diesel, what a car.........
Iain
PS Not too biased am I?

had a good look at one today. impressions:"
1) there is more room in the back
2) interior quality has improved further - truly excellent
3) shape is a good progression
4) door handles are new
5) paint is excellent
6) engine is surprisingly noisy at speed
7) extra rigidity is obvious even in a simple run around the block (which is
all i managed). again a significant improvement over the old car.
8) multitronic - mmmmm
