Well, if you can get an I5 powered car, get it. The I5 is waaay smoother
than any other NA 4 cylinder engine, be it a 16 or not.
All 2.3 engines (2309cm3) put out 133 HP. This was a mistake of some sort
telling that the 2.3 with a cat had the same HP as the 2.2 euro-spec without
a cat, 136 HP...it is false! These engines used to put out 98 kW, which
makes 133 HP.
The 2.0 16V has 140 HP because of the 4 valves per cylinder head design and
because of EFI, which is more HP-efficient, but torque is lower than with
the 2.3 (you can't replace cubic centimeters, can you!), not because of a
different exhaust design.
The point is if you want an Audi and you like 5 cylinder engines, buy it,
especially if it hasn't had any accidents...the "high mileage" it has is
almost nothing compared to what it can achieve if serviced properly (ask
other list members, some of them have achieved nearly 400.000 miles with the
factory engines still in their cars).
That was just my 0.02 uro!
Kind regards from Belgium,
Mihnea
