Hi folks,
I'm a new lister but long time Audi lover (even though they don't always
love me back!) My current problem is with my 90 (non-q, 2.3L, 5spd) I
noticed that gas was leaking out around what I think is the fuel pressure
regulator (little black box about 2" x 2" that bolts on to the side of the
fuel distributor), so I took it off and went down to my local
pull-your-own-parts junkyard where I found a nice looking one with the same
exact part number (along with 2 brand new looking o-rings) problem solved,
so I thought. After I installed it the car started right back up ran for
about 20 seconds and then died. after that it would do the same thing every
time I started it, run fine for 20 secondsand then die. Then I thought well
maybe my old part wasn't bad after all and it was just the old o-rings had
started to leak, so then I put my old one back on but used the new o-rings.
Same thing... runs fine for 20 seconds then dies (actually it slowly dies,
like it is starved for fuel) if you floor it, it will smooth out for a bit
but then slowly die. BTW, no smoke out the tailpipe so I know it is not to
much gas rather it is not getting enough... Then I disconnected the 2 wire
plug that goes to it and guess what? It stayed running. So what is it???
I really don't understand. I'm sorry about the length of this message but
if anybody has any clues it would help me out greatly!
Thanks!
Tom
