a lovely cold winters day saw the black ur-q nose out of the garage after
it's early winter hibernation. a list of 30 items have been completed
including refurbishment of aux radiator, turbo coolant pump, alternator,
replacement of wheel bearings and ball joints (outwork), and a wide variety
of cosmetic and minor electrical maladies.

hardest task was the speaker boxes which are now in place with replacement
boston austocis 4" speakers. the mdf box under the existing trim has worked
very well with no visible sign of the change, just better speaker
performance, and a more stable rear trim piece.

the major frustration was trying to undo some of the wiring mess made by the
alarm installation. classic was me discovering a flat battery after leaving
the car for a week. on tracing the fault, what i found was that the alarm
installation had joined the boot light with a cheap 1-pole bonnet
microswitch. opening the bonnet shorted the boot light to ground, turning
it on. hence the drained battery!

family in the car, music up, and christine had a very pleasant ride through
the countryside with your truly observing that there was nothing in the car
which caused me to think "i must get around to that"...
