Well, the electrics suck... switches and wiring are common complaints,
engine / gearbox combo are very solid though...
Not even close to the power you'll be used to in your 951, and being front
wheel drive, you wouldn't be able to use it anyway...
Reliability wise, if you look after the way you have to look after a P-car,
and don't get behind in your maintenance, they'll run forever...
Parts are cheap(er) and readily available...
IME the general fit-out (tolerances, solid feel, interior, road noise) are a
step down from the P-cars, but so are the prices...
Clutch replacement is a doddle (in relative terms... ;-) and the NA engines
are (from what I have been told) non-interference so if your timing belt
goes west, you lose power, but not the engine...
My opinions are probably a little biased based on the fact that my P-car
(RIP) was well cared for, while my audis have been cheapies, which have been
neglected by previous owners...
Apparently not sold in US but I have a coupe quattro (non-turbo), and the
quattro is a wonderful thing... I was always took it a little easier in the
wet with my 944 (85.0 944na), but the quattro gets pushed harder... 4 wheel
drifts are good fun...
My dream garage would hold a 20V UrQ, a late model 951 or 944S2 (which do
you prefer?) and maybe an E30 M3 (haven't owned a BMW yet)...
For now, I have 3 audis and a company car... and all is good...
