the uk model is 128-136 bhp depending on year (depending on engine, 2144cc,
2226cc). differing levels of specs availble, abs, air con optional it would
seem in the uk. 0-60 runs for the uk 136 bhp is 8.9 secs i believe, but
thats because youve got to change into 3rd, i believe 0-50 runs are closer
to 6 secs. if you havent driven a 5 cylinder berfore, try one, the power
delivery (and noise) makes the car feel much quicker than it is, and always
makes me smile. hadling wise i believe when the car was released it was
pulling g's in corners that only supercars were beating. go upto 15" wheels
and 205 tyres and i challenge you to lose control of the car. my favs are
second gear corners at 40 mph, put you foot down, the wheels light up but
you keep going the way you want, its also very easy (for a front wheel drive
car) to get the rear end out when required. my car cost me 350 pounds, (500
dollars-ish) its the 1984 2144 cc. so far ive HAD to replace the clutch.
that was on 90000 miles, other jobs have been through choice, suspension
bushes and the like. my only bad comment is that i found the standard ride
a bit wallowy and vague through the steering. as i understand it the
american lights are useless, replace them with the european equivalents.
parts are cheap as vw and other audi bits are generally compatible.
any other comments, please add
