rs2 cambelt

for those interested, the timing belt and water pump removed from the wagon
after 65k kms of life are pristine. they could easily lasted another 3-40k
kms.

put another way, it is very difficult to distinguish between the new and the
old belts. idler pulley & water pump are the same. replaced all 3 of
course....

also very useful to check hoses while the front bumper is off. i was able
to see some serious corrosion in the small hose going from the inlet water
manifold to behind the cambelt. serious verdigris on both ends of this
short rubber pipe meant that failure would have been not too far away.
probable cause? incorrect (too high) concentration of antifreeze in the
coolant i suspect.

the intercooler is *large* though. real large.
