A/C Config. question

It is an after market installation inasmuch as far as I can tell it uses all
the 4000 components except for the dryer and compressor which were unique
fits.
There are two red wires and 2 black wires going to one set of connectors;
and 2 black and 2 black going to the other set. I know the reds are live
and pick up the power feed to the compressor. What I do not know how to
ascertain is which set of connectors they should be respectively connected
to; and whether my current set up of recirc only A/C is a function of these
connectors being on the wrong set?
One way to find out is to swap with the risk of kaBoom!
