'91 200 won't start, need help!

    My father emailed me earlier today saying that his 200 won't start. This 
is a 10v auto. He says that when he inserts the key and turns it one click 
the buzzer and gauges will come alive but when he keeps turning the key to 
start the car, everything goes dead. If he turns the key back, the buzzer and 
gauges come back on. He says its almost like trying starting the car in gear. 
He verified that the car is in park :) and the battery is fully charged. Any 
advice I can forward him? Thanks in advance.
