consequences of using cracked exhaust manifold?

Derek et al,
In restoring my '62 DKW I have become a huge fan of POR 15 stuff. As Tex
mentioned, JBWeld has been advertised as a temp. fix for engine blocks and
manifolds. POR15 has a restoration kit for exhaust manifolds - sandblast
first, open the crack with the all-important Dremel/cutting wheel, and then
apply putty, sand, then paint. I should note that I haven't used the
manifold repair kit (no need to - knock on wood), but I have had excellent
results with their floor pan and gas tank restoration kits. This kit is a
bit more involved/expensive than the JBWeld method - and less widely
available - but it'd be the method I'd use.

NOTES: 1. I do not have any affiliation with POR15, I just use their
products.
2. Follow their directions, especially regarding skin protection - if POR15
dries on your skin, you'll have to live with it for a while (until the skin
grows it off).
Cheers!
