Fender rolling on the Big Red Bus

I haven't done it, but I've heard of VW Golf owners rolling
the fenders by rolling a baseball bat between the tire and 
the fender lip. The tapered shape of the bat lets you
work the lip down a little at a time. 

Sorry, but I don't think a cricket bat would work.
