I just wanted to drop a quick note on the great time my family and I had at the Mt. Washington Corral this weekend. It was a perfect venue to talk Audi and convince my wife that I wasn't alone in my automotive (read audi) delusions!
:^)
Some thanks to:
- Paul and Bonnie Royal for a putting together a 1st class event! I couldn't have asked for a more comfortable, family friendly atmosphere. Too bad Max and Vlad couldn't have "made nice" a little better (I think Vlad was a little jealous of Max's ride vs. his own).
- Chris and Pam Miller for their work and GREAT kids! Great shirt design too, Chris!
- Brett Dikeman for his enthusiasm, and great photos!
- Everyone who had to do an impromtu reading to my 20 mo. old son Marco (Peter Schultz and others) who would hand them a book and plop into their laps! I wish I hadn't forgotten my camera.....
- Huw Powell, for offering to take those tires off my hands! I wish you had brought the GT, if only so I could show my wife all things I **haven't** done to mine. Yet. :^)
- Rob Beatty. There's always somebody who has to fix something at these events. Rob brings reading material for the spectators while they hang out and watch him mess around under the hood!
- Everyone who showed up. It was nice to finally meet all of you.
Some observations:
- Mark Swanson's 4ktq. Plenty has been said about this car. It was a thing of beauty and a joy to behold.
- Alex Van Gerbig's 88 80. Same as above. A tragedy it was to learn of it's demise. Once you're back in Vermont, your welcome to use tools/help/garage space, etc.
- Andrew Duane's A6q. Proof that a 5 speed A6 does exist. Even if it is Melange....as were all the other A6 sedans that were there.....
- Dan Simoes' skill with touch up paint.
- Brett Dikeman's trick photography.
- Tuckerman's ale. I drank enough of the stuff, and it was the first time I'd tried it. Enjoyed every drop.
- Don't buy a raffle ticket at this event if you're a member of the qclub's corral. Nobody there won anything. It all went to "outsiders"!
- The competition cars were something. A wide range of vehicles. A V8 powered Scirocco with a 4kq drive train. a '33 Buick Indy Car, a '55 Lincoln, and a plethora of Audis. It's truly amazing the speed these people take the hill climb at, especially after driving up there myself.
- A beautiful drive to get there and a great place to spend the weekend. The food was amazingly pretty good and not the most expensive that I've experienced. Next time I'll remember the camera.
Again, thanks Paul for putting together a great event. We'll definitely go again.
