r12 replacement autofrost - good as r12?

All,

My 200q20v needs a charge, and I can get a hold of original R12 and do
it with my friend, or, the easier route, use a generic R12 replacement
called Autofrost that a local foreign shop uses and have them do it.
Would it make more sense for me to use the original R12 and do it myself?
Or is Autofrost just as good (or horrible, etc.)?
