Help Needed with I5 Cylinder Head Interchangeability Questions

I have an 88 5KSQ with a badly warped head, about .050; the engine code is LH. I also have a good cylinder head from an 86 5K; engine code KZ. My local salvage yard says that only the 87 and 88 heads are interchangeable; however, the local dealer says that their may be a great deal of interchangeability. I really need to get the 88 5KSQ back on the street. Please help me with any info you can provide.
