Hi Gary, assuming you're Stateside, that engine code doesn't sound correct.
It should be an NF engine in the '88 non-turbo cars. Your '86 head(KZ) will
bolt up and work out fine for you provided you accept that the intake valve
sizing will drop from 40mm to 38mm. There will be a slight performance
decrease due to the resized intake valves, but likely not noticeable on the
road. Use the same head gasket as you would for the stock NF head.

I have an 88 5KSQ with a badly warped head, about .050; the engine code is
LH. I also have a good cylinder head from an 86 5K; engine code KZ. My local
salvage yard says that only the 87 and 88 heads are interchangeable;
however, the local dealer says that their may be a great deal of
interchangeability. I really need to get the 88 5KSQ back on the street.
Please help me with any info you can provide.
