Koni Sport P/N's

Hi Grant,

I do not remember which ones are the "sports": the red or the yellow.
About '92 or '93 I put Koni reds on my '87 5KCSQ after Blau sent me a
set of Boge Turbo gas that would not fit in the rear. Apparently, the
200's rear suspension bits have different size holes and the like from
our 5KCSQ's. Blau practically cried over the phone, but he took them
back. I had wanted four matched shocks and I had been told to avoid the
Konis as they were really harsh. I spoke with the folks at Koni North
America and they promised me that on their softest setting the reds
would only be 25% stiffer than the OEM Boges. I forget who I got them
from; I could look it up if you are interested. They were harsh when
new and still are very harsh in the Winter when the fluid in them is
cold. They might be perfect shocks for a perfect road, but here in New
England there are few perfect roads. It is my belief that the springs
in these cars are designed for use with gas shocks and when used with
straight hydraulic shocks like the Koni reds you just have to endure a
very harsh ride. I expect this from my ol' Vette, but not my four door
"sleeper". The OEM shocks had been fine and then I installed a "Charlie
spring" and "Shrapnel knobben" and those OEM shocks went places they
had never been before. Within two weeks they were trashed. I wish the
Boge's that Blau sold me had fit the car; I think that the ride would
have been much better.

If you are interested I will go back through my records and try to find
who I got the Koni reds from and what the part numbers were, but after
living with them for 7-8 years I really can not recommend them.

HTH,

Shef

I am looking for the pn's for Koni Sports for my '87 5KTQ. None of the
companies I have contacted nor the Koni North America homepage list
sports
for the 5K. I think that the following will fit and am trying to
confirm

Front 86-2149 sport
Rear 80-2762 sport

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
