I thought about that after I wrote it and realized that European drivers 
would actually do that.  But my statement still stands because I was 
talking about 6 cyl Chevy trucks driven here in America being driven at 
4.5-5k rpm, not European cars with smaller, higher revving engines designed 
to run at steady high speeds.

And you still don't ride IN the engine compartment (which is basically what 
we are doing on this partucular boat, no engine cover while we finish 
tuning it.)
