inside door handle / latch tab broken, now what?

While attempting to remove the passenger side front
door this evening, I failed to completely remove the
little screw beneath the door handle and discovered
that either I or the previous owner has broken the
little tab that helps to secure the inside door handle
assembly.

The tab is nowhere to be found but there is a
suspicious looking piece of tape where I expect the
tab to be.

What are my options in securing the handle back
without this tab?  any BTDT?
