No, the 84/85 5000S (non-turbo) interior is not carried over from the
83 or earlier models.  Audi simply decided to change some of this stuff
for 86.  The 84/85 dash is actually largely the same as the 86-88 cars,
except detail differences like the location of the window switches.

The 84 5000S turbo interior, on the other hand, stayed mostly unchanged
through the 88 model.  There are a few changes, like the location of
the trip computer display moved from the top of the center console to
the center of the instrument cluster in 86, and the change to the newer
style GM climate head in late-85 and a matching change of the location
of the rear defogger switch.
