Extended warranties

In the case of my urS4, the extended warranty was a terrific idea. Except for 
brake rotors last fall, everything has been covered, and the costs (at a 
dealership, mind you) would have been well over the cost of the extended 
warranty.

Even better than that, some work was done early in 2000 that the warranty 
people said was not covered. I grumbled but bit the bullet. Lo and behold, 
around Thanksgiving, I get a refund check!

The only caveat I have: Find out what is NOT covered, and not just in general 
terms. Some warranties will say: "All ___ are not covered" which ain't nearly 
good 'nough. You want something that will say: "The following items are not 
covered: Googleplex demodulator, disgronificator, muffler bearings and 
ailerons."
