Of course, if his suggestion to "keep an eye on the rack" had raised 
the proper red flag, you could have said, "Fix it before I buy it," and
saved yourself $500.

When asked by any sales person if I want the extended warranty, I ask, 
"Do you think I need it? Maybe I shouldn't buy this ______ if it isn't 
reliable." They change their tune fast.
