'88 5kcstq slow boost, continued

Would it help if I described it as 1.2 bar boost all the way to redline
in 2nd? I switched off my invisible font, so please feel free to
respond to any of these posts. :-)

Last night, I found that the hose from behind the throttle body to
the WGFV was very loose at the IM. I could have sworn that was
the cause of my slow boost building. I figured, no/less boost going
into that hose, and therefore to the WGFV and to the top chamber
of the WG.

In the semi-darkness, I inspected the hoses coming from the
WGFV. I thought they were reversed, so I swapped them with
each other. I was really sure this was the problem. As I thought
about, it seemed like the computer would be applying vacuum to
the top of the WG chamber instead of boost. It made perfect
sense.

However, the test drive after I swapped these hoses proved
otherwise. I definitely have boost, it went all the way to 1.5 and the
fuel cut. I guess my turbo works. The power delivery was all mess
up tho, and although I saw much higher peak boost, it was obvious
that it wasn't correct. I believe my (recently new anyway) WOT
switch works fine as well. It would not begin the crazy boosting
unless the throttle was pressed down past the trigger point
(57degrees?).

I could hear the pressure about to blow my intercooler caps off
when I shifted. I brought it home and put the WGFV hoses back
the way they were.

So, does anyone have any thoughts on this? I've gotten no
feedback yet. Is this on? [tap, tap]

If there's something wrong, and I believe there is, I'd like to fix it.
I've got a boost gauge coming now, Summit Racing with 24 hour
ordering is really cool. A new used ecu with TAP chip and WG
spring is on it's way. I will be strapping my intercooler and driving
carefully until I get my bypass valve installed.

Please comment! :-)

Thanks,

Ken
