225/40 on 7.5" Wide Rims?

I believe it's better to have a slightly narrower tire well supported on the
correct width rim, than try to sqeeze on a wider one. I was considering
225/40's on my 7.5" rims, but I think I'll stick with 215's until I can fit
a 8.5" rim to the car.

Subject: 225/40 on 7.5" Wide Rims?
Well I got a call today on the tires, finally. The fellow at the shop
says the tire goes on one side and then the sidewall will not flex enough to
go on the other side, otherwise saying my rim is too narrow and the tire is
too wide, sidewall is too stiff. I checked the Tirerack site and it states
the Kumho 225/40 can fit anywhere from a 7.5"-9" rim, but an 8" rim gives
dimensional perfection. Am I pushing the limits by fitting this tire,
though it does says it's possible?
Thanks,
