new antennas - did they wise up?

That's too bad that they're putting them in the windows now.  I'm sure there's a
slight aerodynamic gain, but it sounds as though the reception suffers and then you
still have all the expense and complexity when it comes time to replace it.  Looks
like the dealers win again and the parts racket continues.

At least there must be a replacement mast for the '98's available so that's an
option.  FYI the one I saw was in the typical location on the left rear quarter
panel and it certainly seemed like a radio and not a phone antenna.

The fixed antenna on the newer style A6 was only used in '98. In '99, they
returned to the window antenna (where the A8 antenna is also). The window
antennas give really poor reception (my '92 100S has one, and it sucks).
