Gas mileage, oxygen sensors - 95 A6 quattro

All,

My car has 111,000 on the clock and I'm sure the
oxygen sensors have never been replaced.

Car gets 20-22mpg.  Since the generic sensors can
be had for $40 each (2 required), I'm considering
dropping $80 on new sensors just to see if I can
squeeze a couple more mpg out of the car.

Does my mileage seem low for this car?
