Alternator?

   List,
   
  I mailed a few days ago about a problem I all of a
sudden am having with my car 87 5ksq I replaced my 02
sensor and after reseting my 02 light( mines behind
the IP) I putting everything back together and started
the car I noticed that my park brake,
alternator(battery), 02 lights were on,
 the only lights that were on before was my 02 light
so I took the IP apart again and wiggled the wires and
harnesses back there and the lights went out so in the
process of screwing the two screws in top of the
cluster the lights came back on and have stayed on,
  then my volts light came on my auto check and the
car died battery drained,
  A limited number of listers got back to me and
sugested regulator brushes, or the famouse "blue wire
of death" 

  I looked at the brushes and there 10mm still within
spec, alternator is only 2 years old

 so then me and a friend traced the "blue wire of
death" first I cut the connector thats near the jump
start post and replaced it with a new one soudered the
connections then we replaced a piece of the wire that
gets tucked into the underneath of the steering wheel
put everything back together started her up my
alternator(battery) light went out but as it did befor
the volts light came on and the car died and my park
brake,02 lights were still on whats going on can more
than 3 people get back to me on this.
