Alternator?

Ron,
You may already know this but if you want to check the alternator use a
voltmeter and you should have about 12 volts at the battery before
starting and 14 volts with the engine running.
My alternator failed recently and it was due to the internal diode
failing. When the engine is not running the alternator shorts out the
battery flattening it.
It appears from your description that the o2 sensor did not need replacing
and that the most likely fault is with either the alternator or wiring.
