fuel distributor taken appart, any BTDT please help

ok, this is actually for my VW GTI, but the distributor looks just like the
one on my 87 5KTQ and I am guessing that someone on here was as crazy as
myself and tried to take one of these things appart. in putting it back
together i was not sure about where some of the pieces went. Does anyone
have pictures of what this thing is supposed to look like?? or perhaps just
explain to me how it is supposed to look.  i started to put it back the way
i thought it came appart but it did not look like it was right. so i put it
back together the way that made the most sence, which looking back I think
was wrong.
I might have destroyed a good distributor when my problem was really a fuel
pump. ok, so i am an idiot. this whole thing is making me sick.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
