Hard/rough start...

Listers,
I'm having some sporadic problems recently with starting my 88 5000s. Heres
what is happening sometimes: Turn over ignition and it takes anywhere from
5-10 seconds to engage. Normaly takes 2-3 seconds tops. When it does engage
the engine idles very rough. Alot of shaking. Seems like it is not firing on
all 5 cylinders. It is so bad sometimes that I usually have to turn the car
off and try again!

Sometimes if I just let it idle like this it will smooth out on it's own or
stall. Most of the time I just keep giving it some gas until it clears up.
Once it smooths out the car drives perfectly for hours. If I try restarting
the car right after I turned it off it fires right up but if I leave it for
more than 20 minutes it usually does the rough start thing again...any ideas
what it could be?

Also It's done it twice on cold starts too so I dont think it's related to
hot start problems...and remember this condition has been sporadic. Though
it is starting to happen more frequently now...

The car has had a recent tune-up minus wires/rotor/cap(they were all still
"good" at the time) Car also has had a new differential pressure regulator
put in less than a year ago...new injectors/fuel filter too...

No fault codes stored either...Help!

Thanks,
Steve Ankney
