ahhh...fresh air

Ya know, removing the clips isn't such a chore. But manipulating the box so
that the filter can get in or out is a PITA. I mean, on my '66 Caddy (w/429
c.i.d. & 300 h.p., and 8 mpg) it's a wingnut, and presto lifto.
To take out the air filter on the audi, it came out in shreds cuz that's the
only way I could take it out. Kind of like an accordian, or better yet the
scarves that continually come out of a magician's sleeve. Getting the new
one in wasn't too bad.
I'm convinced that during the assembly process, the system for getting all
the engine parts under the hood was the "too lazy to take out the garbage"
approach. Essentially, w/hood open, a giant foot would squish everything
down, close hood, load it on truck.
