Hello, guys (and the sporadic gal who graces our
list):
Today, I need to find out if the wheel swap I just
completed is ok for the long haul, or should I undo it
ASAP.
I lost a front tire on my '93 100. I have five wheels
with tires off an '86 5k turbo I scrapped out last
year. Some of the rubber is decent.
Both wheels hae the ident of 6Jx15 H2 E45, so I know
they are in the ballpark. The '86 wheels are p/n
447-601-025B while the '93 uses 4B0-601-027 wheels.
What concerns me is the clearance between the
outermost part of the front brake caliper and the
innermost "lip" on the alloy wheel from the '86. This
"lip" can best be described the place where the valve
stem attaches to the wheel.
I peeked at the tired 5k turbo in the corner (waiting
for a tranny) and my eyes see more clearance between
the wheel and caliper.
I know that there were similar issues being discussed
as of late, but yours truly has been quite lazy in not
keeping up with list topics.
