sound right

those sound like rocker arms - driven by push rods on single cam "V"
engines, wihtout getting too technical and showing how little I know...

Hydraulic lifters are in the same place as solid lifters, ie directly
between the cam and the valve stem - they are self adjusting (no shims)
due to oil pressure keeping them the right height.  basically.

there a picture somewhere on my site of a head with no cam (actually,
probably quite a few!), you can see the lifters in a row down the
center.
