new shocks

Just picked up my S6 with the Bilstein sport shocks...the car is much
tighter now (OE shocks had 85K on them...not surprising). I spoke with
Bilstein before I went with the sports, as the HDs were nowhere to be found
for my Avant.
Bilstein indicated that the shorter sport shock is no problem...that they
shortened it primarily to keep from having any problems at full suspension
sag (usually only when the car is on a lift).
The car does not ride at all harshly. On the other hand, I'm getting a lot
less fore/aft shifting under acceleration...was getting a *lot* due to the
blown rear shock.
I'm very happy now...the car drives beautifully. The clutch and TO bearing
were also done, and the clutch is much lighter. Also had a couple of bulbs
replaced in the instrument cluster, changed out a bad thermostat, and
swapped out the center console (the original one had been drilled for an
aftermarket cellphone, and I picked up a clean replacement at an auto
recycler).
This weekend I'll be doing some additional work on the car (heavy cleaning,
installation of Nokia speakerphone, etc), and pulling the servotronic relay.
On my avant, it's in the fuse box under the hood.
Monday it goes to the local dealer for a fuel line R&R, courtesy Audi of
America. I miss it already! (haven't seen it since Tuesday evening when I
dropped it off for the first batch of work).
Then next weekend, the euro lamps go in, assuming they arrive by Friday....
It's coming together, slowly but surely. :)
