Powder coating removal

When I was much younger I used Lye soap, tin foil, and water to make hydrogen 
in my parents kitchen sink.  The lye soap splashed on to the aluminum window 
frame and removed the black powder coating.  I also filled a large balloon 
with hydrogen. The explosion of that balloon was much like the explosion of 
my parents when they say the kitchen window.  I don't know what the exact mix 
of lye soap to water is but it should work.  Lye soap is available almost 
anyplace.  Don't get it on your skin your skin is a lot softer than powder 
coat!
