advice for steering rack

I'd suggest sticking with things related to the hydraulic system. Bushings
and ball joints, etc may be needed but they aren't involved in steering
rack replacement. The rack will slide out thru the passenger side wheel
well. Replace any hoses or related parts that are suspect while you have
the rack out. Is the pump leaking? If so, now would be the time to
re-seal or replace. Hoses leaking? Now would be the time to replace.
Bomb holding pressure? Now would be the time to replace or recharge it.
Maybe replace the banjo bolts, esp the ones with the filter. Definitely
replace any crush washers you've loosened. I think Jorgen will include the
washers for the rack hose ends. Definitely flush the fluid, and definitely
clean the reservoir and filter. If you're considering adding a steering
damper, this would be the easiest time to do it.
