NAC: Help with Mercedes Needed

I know this is a out of order, this being a post about a Mercedes on an Audi
list. Hence, I'll keep it brief, but keep in mind I'm trying to help out my
parents. My mother's car is a 1992 Mercedes 300TE. She needs an ac
compressor because the one she has is leaking freon like a beast. Two shops
have quoted $1200 and $1300 to replace along with necessary other
replacements such as drier and switches. If anyone has any experience with
this work please reply off-list. I'm interested in other parts alternatives
mostly.

P.S. Mandatory Audi Content: Anybody have any good suggestions for touch-up
paintwork? Somebody keyed my pearl 200 a few weeks ago and I don't know what
to do. Are some body shops good enough at matching the pearl?
