removing filter housing on '89 200 avant.

[I am new to the list and just bought an '89 200 avant. Going thru the
usual vacuum hoses, turbo hoses, gaskets, etc. I do have a Bentley
manual, but I cannot seem to get enough room to remove the air filter
housing w/out distruction. Bentley does not seem to show much on this. I
have removed the RF tire, inner fender, intake boot, fuel filter, O2
sensor, CO pipe, and STILL cannot get the air filter housing out. What
am i missing on this?]

Did you try unbolting it from the frame - there is a screw that need to be
removed from underneath the air box from underneath.  Then after removing
filter, disconnecting the waffle cover, turbo hoses, etc..you should be able
to wrestle it out.
