(NAC) northpoint shutdown fallout

There's been much yammering on the list over the last few days about the
implications of the NorthPoint DSL network going belly up -- and list
favorite AT&T buying all of its assets, but not its customers.  (Natch.)

For those of us who view developments like this with horror -- and suspect
NorthPoint's death is just the first of many, the following NYTimes story
