that thing is a *very* tight press fit.  The engine guys pulled
Brendan'd when they cleaned his block and I had to make a tool out of
PVC pipe to pound the new one in - otherwise it kept popping out.  If
you have a new one on hand, I would suggest brute destructive force to
remove the old one, taking care not to get metal scrap in the block,
though.
