crankcase breather tube r n r

Hi list,

just a quick one, I tried removing the rigid crank case breather section
for cleaning the other day and failed. It is the hemispherical shaped
thing down on the lower part of the block with a flexible hose attached.
Has anyone any btdts on removing this? I tried levering with a screwdriver
round it and with a rod down the pipe coming off it but no luck...
