Hi V6-12v owners,
In my constant search for solving my problem of hesitation during acceleration while the engine runs at normal temperature, I have the fuel pressure checked by the dealer yesterday. I have to mention that it is a WV dealer, previously Audi dealer. Well, the experience was, as always, frustrating.
Anyway, pressure was at 3.7 bar during engine running at idle. If the vacuum line is disconnected from the pressure regulator, the pressure raises at 4.2 bar (0.5 bar difference = OK). That pressure is in agreement with the spec: 3.3 to 3.7 bar at idle with the pressure regulator: (http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ic/ic49954.htm). Normally, that test should be performed by activating the fuel pump without engine running. But that device was not available.that day.
I run the car without the plastic black cover on the engine this morning and noticed that the engine runs better and almost perfectly. What is the link ? I don't know. Hypothesis: is it possible that the high temperature from the engine has an effect on my fuel pressure regulator, I mean, it is faulty only when temperature on the metal device is high enough to create operational problem. So if the black cover is out, the temperature on that device is keep at a lower level ?
Anybody has an idea of the cost of the pressure regulator and the way to change it ?
Have a nice day.
