Ouch!
30 lb cylinders seem to be selling for about $700 on E-Bay.
I spent some time browsing the message board at aircondition.com.
Among the bits of info ....
Ten years ago R-12 was about $1 per pound in the US.
Today it's still about $1 per pound in many countries, and in fact is half
the cost of R134 in those countries.  They have >no< incentive to switch to
R-134.
