Ignorant boy racers Was: Lincoln LS

I agree completely with most of what you say here. However I also
somewhat agree with what you say here.
First, I've owned GM's that were fantastic cars, but large. They
are comfortable cruisers. This is not all that they can make, but this is
what I feel they make well. I owned a 1989 Olds Delta 88 coupe, and a 1988
Buick LeSabre T-Type. Essentially the same car, but then again so are alot
of them. Each was electronically fuel governed at 170KPH. Some may say
that "Electronically Fuel Governed" goes without saying, but I this is not
the only way to do it. I learned to drive on my parents Ford Aerostar and
it was governed in the rear diff with some sort of Mechanical setup!! Old
technology.

Driver experience is always a factor. I don't directly try to
compare automakers. Honda civics are well known as a reliable automobile
for the Mechanically uninclined. For Boy Racers, the Civic is a relatively
inexpensive way to have a trick looking car that is quick in the turns. The
problem is that the Civics I was racing were surprised by their apparent
lack of ability when it comes to keeping up with a 15 year old, marginally
road worthy sedan. Which is the next point.
Obviously, as we are all here, Audi's are not the most reliable
vehicles on the road. Ford had it's Pinto, Toyota had it's early MR2, Audi
has it's Automatic trannys.
The point here is that my attack was not directed at Honda, but at
the Boy Racers who insist on being ignorant of their cars and their own
capabilities. I drive a stock 2.2L 10V Audi Quattro, well known as one of
the most underpowered of the lineup. I harbor no illusions toward my car, I
know what it does, and I am well aware that I still haven't grasped the full
complexity of driving Performance 4WD, But when someone pulls up to a light
and starts making fun of my ride, loses, makes fun of my ride again, and
continues this for two more stop lights. I don't even know why they bother
to buy and tune such a car unless they are going to do it right.

I think I'll throw out my flame suit now.
                                            Pete.
